The Building Division's focus is to protect life and property through safe building construction. We enforce codes, laws, and ordinances adopted by the City of Lincoln. Our responsibility is making sure design, construction, and use of all buildings and structures follow minimum standards.

Building Inspections
The Building Division performs Building Inspections Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Requesting a copy of building or engineering plans?
Please complete the Affidavit for Permission to copy plans and email to Community Development Department - Permit Center. Fees will be determined during review.
Building Permits
The Building Division issues permits for commercial, industrial and residential permits.
Before you build or remodel, please consult our Building Division to make sure your project has the proper permits and conforms to applicable codes and zoning ordinances.
Permits can usually be issued over the counter for:
- Re-roofs
- New HVAC units
- Replacement of water and gas lines
- Water heaters
- Electrical work
Other projects will require plan checks that may take 2 to 6 weeks, depending on size and complexity of the project.
